Installation and system availability
EdrawMax is diagram software from Wondershare (Edrawsoft), available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and the web. The Windows download uses a small online installer that fetches the full program during setup, so installation requires an internet connection for that download. The notes do not specify minimum hardware or Windows version requirements.
After setup, you can create diagrams on the desktop or use the service across supported platforms. Cloud files and AI tools require a Wondershare ID. The free version remains available indefinitely, but it restricts the number of pages, shapes, templates, imports, cloud files, and AI tokens, and adds a watermark to exports and prints. Creating diagrams after setup
The program supports more than 210 diagram types, including flowcharts, mind maps, organizational charts, network diagrams, floor plans, Gantt charts, and electrical and engineering drawings. This range lets users move between business, education, building-layout, and technical documentation tasks in the same application rather than maintaining separate diagram files in different tools.
Paid plans include more than 1,500 built-in templates and over 26,000 symbols. Templates provide starting layouts, while symbols can be placed and arranged to represent the components in a specific diagram. The interface follows a Microsoft Office-style layout, which keeps common editing work within a familiar ribbon-based environment.
AI tools can generate flowcharts, mind maps, and other diagrams from a text prompt. This offers a way to turn a written description into an initial visual structure, which can then be reviewed and edited in the diagram editor. AI use is limited by the available token allowance in the free version.
File exchange and output
EdrawMax imports Visio, SVG, and CAD files, allowing existing diagrams and drawings to be brought into the program. It can also save diagrams in Visio format for exchange with people using Microsoft Visio. The free version allows five Visio or CAD imports, so users with a larger collection of source files should account for that restriction before relying on the trial-level edition.
Export options include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, SVG, HTML, and image formats. These outputs can be used to share a finished diagram in an office document, a portable file, or a graphic format. In the free version, exported and printed material carries a watermark, which affects documents intended for presentation or distribution.
Choosing a license
The license is shareware, with a limited free version and paid subscription or perpetual-license options. At the time described in the source notes, the cheapest plan was $69 for six months, a discounted semi-annual subscription that auto-renews. An annual plan was listed at $99, while a perpetual license for EdrawMax V15 was $198. The perpetual option is a one-time desktop purchase and includes three years of mobile and online access.
Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled through the Wondershare account. Before purchasing, check the renewal terms for the selected plan and turn off renewal in the account if continued billing is not wanted. The free edition can be useful for testing the interface and workflow, but its diagram and output restrictions make it unsuitable when unrestricted page counts or watermark-free exports are required.
